Unless you've been under a rock, you know who Drake is. Well wait, I don't want to assume anything, so let me introduce this awesome man! Aubrey Drake Graham is a Canadian rapper, singer, actor, songwriter, entrepreneur, and so much more!
Drake speaks to me every time he drops a song. Every. Single. Time.
In his latest single 'God's Plan' he says a verse that sticks out every time I hear it : "She said do you love me, I tell her only partly. I only love my bed and my mom girl I'm sorry."
I interpret things differently than most so of course I wanted to write a blog about this specific verse! I interpreted this verse to mean that Drake has tunnel vision right now, laser focused on his career (I could be reaching but that's okay.) As a result the only two things he can truly love in his life are his bed and his mother. Now, he did say that he loves her partly, but is that even real love? Who knows. Regardless I definitely respect this verse and am reminded, once again, of why me and Drake are always on the same level!
For my life, I translate this verse as that I only have time for me, my career, and my brand; anything else just can't get my full attention. And I don't regret this choice one single bit. Why? Because I have made a choice, to be selfish with my time and energy and to give myself and my business my all! During this time I have seen growth and change in myself and in all areas of my life. Seeing this change in myself has reaffirmed my decision and opened my eyes to those that are not as focused or goal oriented as I am. And that is perfectly fine, to each its own, 2018 is all about drinking water and minding my business, read more on that importance here: https://www.soulhealthchronicles.com/single-post/2018/02/09/Drink-Water-and-Mind-Your-Damn-Business
I believe in the importance of surrounding yourself with people who are on the same level as you or higher. So why would you put any focus toward people or environments that are not on the same level as you? I refuse to let unproductive, negative, full of excuses people around me. I have big plans for myself and Soul Health Chronicles and will not let anything or anyone that is not about grinding, hustling, goal setting, making their mark on the world, productive, or positive into my life.
I encourage those reading this blog to take a look at who you surround yourself with, what environments are you spending time in, and who and what you are giving your valuable time and energy to. If people and environments are not adding to your life then reevaluate and let them go. Sometimes that may mean isolating yourself, digging deep to figure out who you are and what you want, and learning to love and accept yourself. Then, when you are ready, seek those relationships that pour into you, motivate, and encourage you; those that don't distract or discourage you while you have tunnel vision towards your goals and dreams. You will begin to see a change in all areas of your life but you first have actively make a sound choice to have tunnel vision towards the things you want for yourself and out of life!
As always work on becoming the best version of yourself, you are your only competition!
